Certificate IV

A Certificate IV in Theology is a nationally recognised certificate allowing students to delve into a disciplined study program that helps each of them discover their unique place in God’s world.

This certificate can be transferred to a further award if needed and can be started and completed anywhere in Australia.

The aim of this certificate course is to “train Christians in skilled servant work,”  so that Christians learn to be God’s people reaching out to the community in their own unique and authentic way." (Ephesians 4, The Message)

Core Subjects
Below is a list of core subjects offered through this course:

  • The Emerging Church - Learn from Acts and key missional leaders throughout history who have made a significant difference where they were.
  • Movers and Shakers throughout history
  • The Biblical Story
  • The Life of Christ - God’s story becomes our story as we allow God’s passionate heart to become our heart.
  • Search for Life and Profile - Understand yourself so that you are free to love God and others.
  • Hearing the voice of culture - Understanding and listening to those around us.
  • Contemporary issues - How to have a biblical perspective on current ethical dilemmas.
  • Leadership Studies:
    • Transformative Leadership
    • Becoming a leader of influence
    • Identifying and growing leaders
    • Building a quality team (elective)
  • Careforce Facilitator Training

Electives
Electives are also offered, providing opportunities for students to follow their areas of interest.  These include: Youth Stream, Children’s Work, Greek, Hebrew, Communication Skills, Maintaining Effective Networks, Plan and Conduct Group, Culture Journeys, Missions, Cleansing Streams, Perspectives, etc.

Cost
Cost for each unit of subject is $50.00.  If the Certificate is to be completed by the student in one year at a full time capacity Austudy is also available.  Please click here for further information on Government help.

 

FAQ’s
Can I do the subjects without the necessary work needed to obtain a certificate?
Yes.

Do I have to do homework?
You will need to do homework to gain the certificate.  Nevertheless any work done out of class will help in the learning process.

What if I’ve done the subject before and didn’t do the necessary work for a certificate but want to get a certificate now?
You may do the work now and pay a small fee for accreditation later.

Is there an age limit?
No.  Anyone over 16 can do the certificate.

Is there any set order of doing the subjects?
No, there is no specific order the subjects should be completed in.

How does the course run from week to week?
Some subjects will be held weekly for a certain amount of weeks (one night a week for12 to15 weeks).  Others will be offered over a weekend (eg. Friday and all day Saturday) or will be offered as intensives during a week.

Can I do just the subjects I’m interested in?
Yes, but in order to gain the Certificate you must complete all the core subjects plus certain number of electives.

Is it possible to do it full time?

Who will run the certificate?
Sandy Hart (Door of Hope Minister for Prayer and Training) will oversee the course and utilize other trainers for specific subjects.  Each trainer is a qualified person or supervised by a person with Certificate IV in Workplace and Assessment in Training.
