Meet our team

There are many people who contribute countless hours and unbelievable passion to the running and operation of the many projects and ministries throughout the Door of Hope community. We can\’t introduce them all to you, but here are the key leaders who humbly represent them.

Steve Fitzallen | Senior Minister

After ten years as Youth & Creative Arts pastor, Steve extended his leadership capacity in 2007 to become Door of Hope’s senior minister.  Steve’s continued commitment and long term dream for the city of Launceston and beyond has allowed him to lead this church in offering faith, hope and love through many practical ways.  However, the journey continues and he is passionate to see what God will do as the future unfolds for Door of Hope Christian Church.

Andrew Fair | Head of Staff & Chairman of Elders

With a wealth of leadership experience, Andrew oversees the staff team and is the chairman of the eldership team.  His expertise also allows him to be involved in specific short and long term projects which are either in the very early stages of development or have yet to be transitioned from a dream or an idea into reality.

Craig Spaulding | Chairman of Business Ministries Board & Associate Minister for Heart Plunges

Craig heads up the Heart Plunges ministry which sees people of all backgrounds embark on experiences to make a difference throughout the world.  Craig also oversees the various business opportunities of Door of Hope.

Sandy Hart | Minister for Prayer & Training

As one of our six key values, prayer and its different styles are made possible thanks to Sandy’s commitment to see people interact with a living God, facilitating opportunities corporately, in small groups and privately.  As a qualified trainer and educator Sandy is also passionate about discipleship and the need to establish a solid foundation in the Christian person, regardless of age, gender or background.  She also works as the Regional Director for Christian education provider Australian College of Ministries (ACOM), establishing a strong link between the academic world and the local church.

Pene Daniel | Minister for Children’s Outreach

Pene’s passion for children is evident in her involvement to offer opportunities and a listening ear to children and their families in tough circumstances.  The highlight for many of these children is a special “Superheroes” camp where they are treated as guests of honour, with lots of love, fun and laughter.

Grace Fleming | Minister for Recovery & Counselling

As coordinator of recovery and counselling opportunities throughout Door of Hope, Grace’s expertise is made evident through the facilitation of “Life Solutions”, a set of courses dedicated to engaging men and women of all ages in the process of healing and recovery through confidential small groups led by a well trained and caring team.

Dorothy Roberts | Minister for Children & Families

Dorothy oversees all children and families ministries of our church community.  Dorothy’s dedication to influence the future generation with positive and healthy messages of hope and love, coupled with her experience in the education system, offers a unique opportunity to continue the development of programs for this cause.

Wini Heron | Outreach Pastor

Wini coordinates the opportunities to engage with those who have not yet heard the story of Jesus and his saving grace.  Outreach is the term we give to the intent in sharing this good news with all people.

Amanda Towns | REAL Life Groups & Belonging Pastor

Amanda oversees the running and operation of the many small groups throughout the Door of Hope community who gather for the purpose of support, growth, connection and doing life together.  She also facilitates the opportunities for those wishing to connect with Door of Hope on different levels.

Amy Symington | Youth Pastor: Young Adults

As part of the youth ministry, Amy takes care of our young adults group.  Together with a team of passionate people, Amy is committed to seeing the lives of young people changed in positive ways, offering them a chance to be a difference in their schools, colleges or universities.

Sam Thiele | Youth Pastor

As the latest addition to our team, Sam overseas the various youth programs running in the life of Door of Hope.  Sam and his wife Bec are committed to the cause of young people and super keen to see them reach their full potential in God and in the community.

Dani Misdom | Creative Arts Pastor

Dani, along with his wife Kristie, oversee the creative elements of Sunday services and other events, using different artistic expressions, including music, dance, drama, technical arts and media.

Doug Townsend | Chaplain

As the need grew to establish a network of care and support for people in our community in a tough situation, Doug was appointed as Door of Hope’s chaplain.  After many years of serving and caring for people of all backgrounds, Doug’s experience and passion is highly valued as we continue to seek ways to help and support people.
