Door of Hope Christian Church is built on a core set of values which determine our understanding of God’s call for us to be a door of hope through Jesus Christ in a fragile and uncertain world. These values, which we call key values, are our DNA as we interact with God, with one another, our community, our nation and beyond.
We envision being a group of people with a highly expectant church prayer life, witnessing the demonstration of a powerful God who is evidently active in our current day.
All people matter to God, and to us. We dream of out-working God’s great commission (to tell the world about his hope and love) with passion and purpose, by being active in our desire to see the Kingdom of God grow on a daily basis.
Our third value is the realisation of a community that stands out for its inclusivity and support in all stages of life and especially in times of need.
We are committed to continually grow in the likeness of Christ throughout our lifetime, never falling for the fallacy that one has “arrived”.
We value the discovery and implementation of the person God created each one of us to be, using our past experiences, personality, natural abilities, and God-given spiritual gifts.
Our priority is to see the Kingdom of God exampled in our world by fully leveraging our time, talents, resources and finance.
God is the Author and Creator of life. He is the Ruler of the universe who has existed as a community of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All three are coequal and are one God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with God and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived on earth as a sinless man to show humanity how to live. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from death on the third day and so demonstrated his power over death and sin. He ascended to heaven and will return one day to reign as King.
The Holy Spirit is one with God and Jesus Christ. He is present in the world to make men and women aware of their need for God. He is active in providing Christians the power for living, understanding spiritual truth and guidance to do what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts.
The Bible is our record of God’s interaction with His people from the beginning of creation to after the death and resurrection of Jesus. It was written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is inspired by God and is the source of truth for Christian beliefs about living.
All peoples are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. God wants to have a relationship with every human being. While every person has the potential for good, we are all stained with an attitude of disobedience called “sin”. Sin separates us from God and causes problems in this relationship between us and God.
